My plastic surgeon did his residency in thyroid, so he was familiar with the procedure. It can be a dangerous procedure because the thyroid, which is a like a butterfly-shaped gland; lies directly on your voice box. So they need to, when they take it out, they need to remove it very slowly and very carefully so you don’t lose your, you wouldn’t lose your voice, but you might have like a 50-years smoker cough kind of raspy voice the rest of your life.

So always, when your surgeon comes in to see you after the surgery, they check your voice right away to make sure that nothing happened and fortunately for me, maybe unfortunately for some of my family members, I had my perfect voice right after the surgery.
