Glynis, a breast cancer survivor, shares advice for women who are frightened about their chemotherapy treatments.
Glynis:
I would say to a woman who is concerned about going through chemotherapy that research is very important. Do your homework because the more education you have about what you are about to go through could lessen those fears, and the fact that the experience will be different for everybody, you know.
The experience I described could only happen to, you know, a small percentage of the women who are going through chemotherapy. You really need to know what type of cancer you have, listen to the doctor in terms of him prescribing the treatments, keep a positive attitude and know that, yeah, things will be different.
Things will be different for a little bit, but look at me. I mean I have been able to bounce back. I have as much energy as I had before. It’s not a long-term lasting effect. But, it’s so medically necessary and it’s not going to be easy whether you have one treatment or four treatments. It’s not going to be easy, but it will save your life.
