Listen as Glynis introduces herself and explains how she found out she had breast cancer.

Glynis:
Hi, I’m Glynis and I would like to share with you my breast cancer story.

I first realized I had a problem in November of 2001. What basically happened was, right after Thanksgiving I was walking up the stairs and I heard some type of divine voice say, “Touch your breast right there,” and I went straight to the spot where I felt a lump.

And my husband was upstairs in the bathroom and I went to him and I said, “Eric, does this feel normal to you?” And he said, “It doesn’t feel normal to me Glynis.” And so, obviously the red flags and everything went up then because I had had a scar before when my daughter was 4-months old and I was breast feeding her, I felt a lump and I went to see specialists then and they said, “Stop breast feeding and we will check you in two months,” and it turned out that there was nothing there, but what was very, very strange about the story was the fact that it was in the same breast about 18 months later. And so I felt the lump and through divine intervention, I had a scheduled doctor’s appointment two days later and obviously the doctor said, “No, that’s not normal. We need to set you up for a biopsy.”

And so the day after Christmas in 2001 I went in for the biopsy and, of course because of the holidays I had to wait until, you know doctors finished celebrating the holidays, to find out that I in fact was diagnosed with breast cancer.
