I had my fallopian tubes removed due to multiple etopic pregnancies. I still have my ovaries, so can I still get pregnant?

Please, please check out Dominion Fertility in Arlington VA, they are just outside DC. I had the exact same problem you are describing. I lost both my tubes to ectopic pregnancies. I under-went Natural Cycle IVF with Dr. Dimattina, it cost aroun the $5K mark. No drugs, no artifical eggs, just the one egg your body naturally selects. It worked! My son will turn 2 this weekend.

You can also see Dominion Fertility on facebook.

Good luck to all of you

Wow, well that is awesome for you. How far along are you now? How did the eggs travel without the tubes? My husband and I have been married for 3 years, and have had monagamious unprotected sex, and I have never even been close to pregnant. I was told by my doctor that unless we have an IVF procedure, we will not have children. Anyway, congratulations and let me know how it goes.

Hi (to anon, May 26, 2009 message),
It is now a month later, after your original post, and I'm wondering what the outcome of your pregnancy is? Did you have IVF or other means of becoming pregnant? Were there any complications with fully removing both of your fallopian tubes? What have your doctor(s) said to you?

Hope to hear back from you, with an update!

Is this really true? I had both my tubes removed due to multiple ectopic pregnancies. My husband and I have not used birth control for 5 years and nothing...

Hi,
No, you are not able to become pregnant (without assistance, such as IVF) if you do not either of your fallopian tubes. If you still have your ovaries, you may still ovulate, but the egg has no means of traveling to your uterus (via fallopian tubes).

Thanks for your question, to clarify for other women!

Actually, you and the first answered poster are INCORRECT!! YES, you CAN get pregnant without fallopian tubes! It is REMOTE, but it is possible. If you have your ovaries, you will still ovulate. It is correct that the egg usually needs fallopian tubes, but after you ovulate, your little egg will float around in your abdomen. It is possible for 1 sperm (it only takes one) to reach the egg and fertilize it. Now, it is a remote possibility for your fertilized egg to float into your uterus, but it is more likely that it will embed itself on the outside of your uterus. Your best and safest bet is IVF. I just wanted to clarify that it is possible.
