Q:

Does 3 days of withdrawal bleeding/menstruation mean she's not pregnant?

We had sex 2 - 3 weeks after her last menstruation and she had them irregularly. She took Nordette as ECP 18 hours after. 6 days after the dose, she bled heavily lasting for 3 days. She also had abdominal pains then and she said it was just like her period. I'm not sure exactly if it is her period or just the withdrawal bleeding.

Was that a sign that she's not pregnant?

Hi mam. It's me. An update. I'm just gonna remind what happened. December 17-19 is the assumed of the start of her last period and 24-28 days is the assumed cycle of her. Her expected period is January 11-15 I guess. January 3 we had sex, and on January 4, almost 26 hours after having sex, she took the ECP. Then on January 9, she had like a little bit melted chocolate and its color is brown. Then on January 10, morning as she observe the brown discharge(idunno if it is a discharge, but she told me that she always having it before her two days or one before her period start.) until the afternoon but it is going heavier, she told me that when her period is about to begin, that color brown is not heavy like what she had now. But in the evening, the texture changed to like a very melted chocolate but sticky and the color is light brown with blood and with cramps but hours later, it is only blood, with a blood clot but not lot of blood clot, she told me that it looks like her period(we are not sure). But January 11, the cramps disappeared but the bleeding continued, there is a time that it is heavy, and a time that it is minimal. Then on January 14 10Pm the bleeding disappeared until 10 am in the morning which is January 15 but it is minimial and disappeared again. Then January 16, morning, there is a little spotting, color red maybe. Then it disappeared. But in the evening of January 16, it is now back to the first texture and color. Brown like a little bit melted chocolate. Then back to the like a very melted chocolate but sticky and the color is light brown with blood. Is it her period? Or what? Please answer and reply. I'm begging. I'm begging please reply. Thankyou so much.

Hi. Our situation is like this. She forgot her last period when it started. But we are sure that her last period started on December 17-19. And the assume cycle of her is 24-28. We did the deed on January 3. And January 4, 26hours after, she took an ECP. January 9 until January 10 of the morning, she got the discharge like a chocolate. The color and its like a melted chocolate. But on January 10 afternoon, the discharge has a little bleeding too. And at night, it is only bleeding. The bleeding is heavy. And has a blood clot. until now she is still bleeding but not heavy as the first 5days. Its almost 6 days. Is it possible that it is her menstruation? Or ECP can cause 6 days of bleeding? Please reply. Thankyou so much.

Hello Anonymous,

If indeed her period ended on December 19 ans she has a 24 to 28 day menstrual cycle, she would been ovulating on January 2. She is most likely to conceive when having unprotected intercourse five days before ovulation, which would have been December 28 and on the day of ovulation, which would have been January 2.

The brown vaginal discharge was old blood and uterine tissue left from her last period.

An emergency contraceptive works to prevent pregnancy by preventing ovulation.

In your situation, she took it after ovulation most likely happened.

I am very concerned that she continues to have vaginal bleeding for almost six days, had heavy bleeding and a blood clot passed.

She must contact her gynecologist or primary care physician about this.

Regards,
Maryann

Hey mam, it's me. Can you pls take the case that she had her period on December 19. And she told me that her period last 4-5 days. Is January 3 an ovulation and high chance to get pregnant? Or low? If her cycle is 24-28. Please reply. Please

The color of the bleeding is red. Is it her real period? She told me also that the brown is normal before her period will start. but she also said that the brown discharge she had on January 9-10 in the morning is lot than the other her other period.

Hello Anonymous,

This may be her normal monthly period with changes caused by taking an emergency contraceptive. Again, she really needs to speak with a doctor about this.
