I had my period that finished last week and 2 days later I have sore breasts, back pain, heart burn, feeling tired and can smell things more .Can I still be pregnant and thought I had a period but it wasn't ? I have a 1 year old who when I carried him from finding out till I had him 7 months I bled every time I went to the loo they said my placenta was low . What do I do? Shall I take a test or wait a while? Or could it be something else?

Hello Anonymous,

One week following unprotected intercourse is a bit too early to have any signs of pregnancy or to get an accurate test result. Wait until your period is late by at least one week or take an early response test five days before it it due.

Levels of hCG,which is the hormone produced during pregnancy, can be detected in urine about 12 to 14 days following conception.

Hi ... I worried im pregnant ... I started my period Aug 26th- Sept 1st my period felt normal my cycle usually is between 26-28 days ... So me and my boyfriend had sex on Sept 2nd (Friday morning and Night unprotected ) ..everything was fine until Sept 8th I started have really bad cramping on my right lower side which I Never really get ..so I googled my condition and I got implantation cramping .. Later that night I decided to take a hot bath after getting out the bath tub I started feeling light headed and threw up really bad ... Went to bed and woke up feeling nauseous .. So I tried to stick out the dull cramping and really bad nausea .. Later that night me and my boyfriend had sex and Immediately after I had lower cramping so bad I thought I was going to die !! Lol my boyfriend took me to the Emergency room .. I told them what symptoms I had been feeling for the past couple of days .. The Doctor did a vaginal ultrasound, full body cat scan and blood & urine pregnancy both negative and they saw no cyst on my ovaries ..everything Inside my body looked fine .. So I'm trying to figure out what's wrong ? Still having nausea and cramping also lower back pain this morning .. I've had 2 kids normal pregnancy for both of them . The doctor gave me abdominal cramping meds and anti nausea pills ..I know it's way too early for preg test .. I'm just really anxious ..

Thanks

Hello Goddess87,

I am sorry to hear about this. Hope you are starting to feel better.
It is too early to test for pregnancy, was too early for this to be implantation related and too early to see anything on an ultrasound.

Stay in contact with your physician.

Hello Anonymous,

Frequent unprotected intercourse can lead to pregnancy. The way to know whether or not you became pregnant is to test. You can use an early response pregnancy test and test five days before your next period is due. Or, you can wait and if your period this month is late by at least seven days, then test.

The increased vaginal discharge (wetness) sounds like you might be ovulating. Just a guess.

Hi again,

Yes, having unprotected intercourse when you are ovulating is the best time to become pregnant.

Good luck,

Hi,

Sperm can only live for a maximum of 5 days in the female reproductive tract.Only a small number of sperm will even survive the long journey through the female reproductive tract.

There is a slight chance that some sperm may still survive from the 6th.

Couples who are trying to conceive should plan to have intercourse a number of times in the days just prior to ovulation.

Maryann
