Q:

Over dosage of Postinor 2

I took both pills in one dosage, is this dangerous or less effective? Also, what are the usual side effects after taking the pills and how soon after? I took the pills about a 17 days ago and now I'm spotting ( not heavy but blood is present). Could this be a side effect?

Hello Anonymous,

All emergency contraceptives, including Postinor 2, are not intended to be used as birth control, but rather for emergency situations only.

Was the evacuation on October 1 an abortion?

Postinor 2, especially when taken often, can cause changes in your menstrual cycle. This could explain why your period is late this month.

If you do not get a period this month, consider taking a pregnancy test, and seeing your doctor.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

A urinary tract infection can occur at different points in the urinary tract. Most often, a person is treated with an antibiotic to prevent the infection from spreading to the kidneys.

Hello Anonymous,

I do not think Postinor 2 will cause you to abort. But, I do not know if it will cause any harm to the fetus. You must speak with your doctor.

Hello Mary Ann, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend during my ovulation period, though he couldnt penetrate cos I was tight buh I took postinor 2 40 hours after. The issue is I took the second dose 11 hours after instead of 12hours. Is there any chance the drug might not be effective. Or do I need to take another dose of postinor. Please advise. Thanks.

Hello Anonymous,

I realize that my reply is three days late. Hopefully, you have not taken another or third dose of Postinor 2. It should have been effective even if you took it one hour earlier.

Regards,
Maryann

So I followed the instructions taking postinor-2. 2 days after, there is some bloods(light) while I'm peeing and also my lower part feels very sour (burns). Also i realized that my pee smells. Is it normal? Please help.

Hello Anonymous,

Thank you for your question.

Are you noticing blood only when you urinate? Is there any blood on your panties?

I am concerned that you might have a urinary tract infection (UTI). Symptoms of a UTI include painful urination, fever, foul or stronger-smelling urine, cloudy or bloody urine, and increased urinary frequency or urge to urinate.

Anonymous, a UTI is treated with antibiotic. So, please call your physician about this.

Regards,
Maryann

Thanks for the reply, it was a great help.
Yes, there's only light blood when i urinate and there are no bloods on my panties yesterday. As for today, my urination colour has turned clear but it still smells. Also on and off my lower parts will still burn/sour. Is it the side effects of Postinor-2 or i am having UTI? And also i've heard that a person shouldn't take antibiotics after taking Postinor-2.
