Over dosage of Postinor 2

I took both pills in one dosage, is this dangerous or less effective? Also, what are the usual side effects after taking the pills and how soon after? I took the pills about a 17 days ago and now I'm spotting ( not heavy but blood is present). Could this be a side effect?

Hello Anonymous,

No, missing two pills in the middle of the pack is not as bad as missing at the beginning or end. If she took Postinor 2 within 72 hours of sex, she will be protected against pregnancy. But, she may have changes to her menstrual cycle as a side effect. Some women start their next period earlier or later than normal. Menstrual flow can be lighter or heavier than normal.

Hi, I took Postinor 2, 8 hours after having unprotected sex with my boyfriend, is there any chance of pregnancy as I'm not ready to have a baby for now?

Hello Anonymous,

Postinor 2 is 95% effective in preventing pregnancy if taken within the first 24 hours following unprotected sex.

Be proactive. If you are not ready to have a baby now, start using birth control consistently. Find a type that works best for you. An emergency contraceptive is meant for emergencies and should never be used as a form of birth control.

Maryann

Hello Anonymous,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your concern.

Changes in the menstrual cycle are a reported side of Postinor 2. Some women will start their next period earlier or later than normal. The menstrual flow can be lighter or heavier than normal.

This is most likely the reason your period is late. The general recommendation is to test for pregnancy if you have not had vaginal bleeding within 3 weeks of taking the pill.

Hope this is helpful to you.

Regards,
Maryann
