which is very hard and feels like its vibrating. she's been having problems with her neck for the past 8 months to a year. It gets swollen but then it will go back down. and you can see it protruding from her neck. this new symptom just started happening about 2 weeks ago. she always rolls her neck constantly and people would always ask me what was wrong with her. she just cant stop she says it makes it feel better. she bends her head to her left shoulder and sometime it hurts her so bad she moans in pain and cant stand, and about 2 months ago i could feel a really hard tight knot around the same spot. she has been having a lot of schizophrenic behavior for the last 2 years and she has been committed once about 1 year ago. She also went to the doctor about a year ago and learned she had diverticulitis and had some pretty extensive testing for her head and stomach, maybe neck, i'm not totally sure but she is determined not to go back to the doctor because of pretty hefty medical bills. we dont have health insurance. i would appreciate any advice you could lend. Thank you

Hi Anon,

Can you give me just a bit more info about the lump? Is it behind the ear? Does it hurt at all? Is it hard and fixed or soft and movable?

My first thought is that if she's had some sort of virus or illness that she may get a swollen lymph gland but want to make sure that it's not just anywhere on her neck.
