Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes, which is the most common form of diabetes, usually occurs gradually. Overweight individuals are more likely to develop insulin resistance because fat interferes with the body’s ability to use insulin. Family history and genetics impact the risk for developing this condition. However, poor diet, physical inactivity and excessive body weight, especially at the waist, increase the risk of type 2 diabetes.
