Vanessa Shares The Stigma Behind Gastric Bypass (VIDEO)

Vanessa:

I think when you tell somebody, “Hey, I am going to have gastric bypass,” they are very scared just because it’s an operation. Any operation is scary. Any surgery is scary, and you know, when you tell someone, “This is what I am going to do to lose weight,” everybody is always like, “Oh well, have you considered doing this, have you considered doing that?” And after you’ve done all those things, you know, like you just reach a point that you just want to do it.

And I think that everybody is scared for you because people care for you, you know, and like they’re so much story behind, like you hear horror stories about gastric bypass. You never hear the good side about it. You never hear like this person lost so much weight, and they are healthy now. You always hear like the bad side and everybody is always like, “Oh, but you know, you can gain the weight back,” and it’s like, ”Yeah, but when you do a diet, it’s the same thing.” So just, you have to accept it. Gastric bypass to me is like a diet that you can’t cheat on; that’s how I consider it.
