Jeanette describes how minimally invasive spine surgery has changed the relationship with her children.
Jeanette:
Well, after my surgery I still couldn’t hold my daughter for quite a while. She was two at that point and after one of my follow-up appointments with Dr. Kim, she was with me, and I said, “Can I hold my daughter yet?” And he said, “Very cautiously.” And so I held her that day, and any person who walked by, whether she knew them or not, she would say, “I like mommas who hold me.”
So a little bit sad that all the time I didn’t get to hold her, but now I get to hold her everyday, and I even get to hold my son who is kind of big. I have to be very careful with him, but he even likes to, once in a while just say, “You want to hold me for a minute?” Because he kind of grew up too big while I was down, but she still always says, “I like mommas who hold me.”
