Prolotherapy Strengthens Joints and Reduces Pain

Dr. Joseph Aiello has been interested for many years in finding ways to reduce people's pain without surgery.

Through his research, he found something called prolotherapy, which involves injections of a proliferant which is an irritant, into the tendons and ligaments around the joints.

This prompts the tendons and ligaments to thicken, which makes the joint more stable. This will then allow the muscles to relax and the pain recedes.

"It is finding the area that is painful on the patient and then figuring out what areas to inject around that joint based on the anatomy that we have learned through medical school and training, and then injecting those areas with the proliferant, with the prolotherapy medicine."

Dr. Aiello has seen success from this treatment in sport injuries and other types of injuries, as well as in conditions that tend to worsen with age, like arthritis.

Dr. Aiello is board certified in Family Practice, and is trained in the use of acupuncture.
