Tibia bone fracture

I have a bone fracture which is healing rapidly cos I can walk now with crutches bearing a little wight on the leg. Some friends say having sex is not advisable when one is nursing a fracture injury and I want to confirm if this is true. Their reason is that it delays healing.

Hello Anonymous,

Welcome to EmpowHER and thank you for asking our thoughts on this matter.

For the benefit of all our readers, The lower leg is made up of two bones: the tibia and fibula. The tibia is the larger of the two bones. It supports most of your weight and is an important part of both the knee joint and ankle joint.

To my knowledge, having intercourse in and of itself will not cause a delay in the healing process. However, consider the type of sex and positioning. That can affect the healing process, if you get what I am trying to say.

Regards,
Maryann
