VIDEO - HERSTORY: Jeanette Shares The Fears She Felt Before Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery

Jeanette discusses the fears she experienced leading up to minimally invasive spine surgery and describes her recovery.

Jeanette:
I was really scared about the surgery, especially since my experience with surgery had been my result came out well, but then my recovery turned out worse. So each surgery I had before finding Dr. Kim, my experience became worse. My scar tissue came back so fiercely that it caused me so many problems, so I was so nervous to enter that situation again and to recover from surgery again.

And I was specifically nervous with this surgery because of the word ”fusion,” and people get so nervous about fusion and say, “You are going to lose all your mobility and it can do all these scary things and you are not going to be able to move well and do xyz,” and it was the opposite for me. My fusion made it so I could move and anyone who has been in the extreme pain that I have been in can live with a little bit of that immobility. I can do pretty much everything now.

So my recovery actually turned out to be much better than I thought. I recovered really quickly. My surgical pain was really minor and I had my surgery on December 2nd and I was Christmas shopping probably a week later. So my recovery was definitely much better than I could have ever imagined.
