Kathy recalls her reaction when the doctor told her she needed triple bypass surgery.

Kathy:

We went to the cath lab (catheterization laboratory) first and he was going to go in and put some stents in, everything was going to be fine. I was going to get out of there in a couple of days and go home and everything was going to be great. And then he got in and said, “We can’t do the stents. There’s too much blockage. Instead of two places, there’s actually three and we’re going to have to do open-heart surgery, and you’re going to have to go in and have a bypass.”

I was shocked and I was in disbelief. I was only 52 years old, and this isn’t happening to me. This happens to other people. It happens to people that are older than me. It doesn’t happen to people my age; I am too young.
