Kathy:

I think she should ask a whole bunch of questions. She should ask, "Who is going to do the surgery?" and "Can I speak to them?" "Who is going to be my anesthesiologist?" "Is there going to be blood transfusions?" "What kind of machines are they going to put me on?" "Where are they going to cut?" "What are they going to do? Are they going to take veins?" and "Where are they going to take veins from?"

Any question that comes to mind, "Where is the incision going to be?" "How big is it going to be?" "How will I feel after this surgery?" "Will I feel pain?" "Will I feel disoriented?" "Will I feel depressed?" "How will I feel about myself?" and "How will I feel about how my body looks with the scars?" "What kind of scarring should there be and how do I treat that?"

There’s a lot of questions that a woman should ask only because there’s so many things that change after this happens, but one of the things that that shouldn’t change is how you feel about yourself. Women should understand that this is something that many women go through, but it doesn’t have to be a totally life-altering experience.
