Dr. Barba shares how long a patient will remain in the hospital after minimally invasive spine surgery.

Dr. Barba:
After your minimally invasive spine surgery, you can expect to be in the hospital anywhere from one to three to four days. The average time is shortened by at least a day or two from your regular spine surgery. So, a patient would be in the hospital for a day after simple procedure and maybe three days after a more complicated procedure.

Certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons, Dr. David Barba is a member of numerous professional societies including the San Diego Academy of Neurological Surgeons, the Western Neurological Society, and the Research Society of Neurological Surgeons. He is currently serving as associate professor in the Division of Neurological Surgery in the Department of Surgery at UCSD.
