Dr. Alinsod discusses if laser vaginal surgery and vaginal rejuvenation are the same procedure.
The term, laser vaginal rejuvenation, is a lay term that has a background with a tightening surgery of the vagina. Most doctors do not use a laser in doing the vaginoplasties or tightening of the vagina. So vaginal rejuvenation, again, has caught on in terminology and laser vaginal rejuvenation is a term that’s actually trademarked by an organization in Beverly Hills.
Most of the people doing the procedures are performing the vaginoplasty surgeries with a use of cautery units, scissors, and this kind of equipment and not with lasers. Lasers sounds glamorous, but I don’t believe personally that there’s a great advantage of using a laser over other devices in this procedure, and in fact, some of the lasers available out there, especially the 980 diode lasers that are used in some of the laser vaginal rejuvenation surgeries, actually have a larger lateral thermal damage that can occur in the skin, and so it’s not as precise as I’d like it to be.
