This week we saw a wide variety of questions submitted to our community. Women asked about how to be intimate without risk of pregnancy, swimming with UTIs, prenatal vitamins and how to unclog ears . Our moderators provided resources and answers to these health questions as well as many others. Do you have a health question you need an answer for? Post it to our community and we promise to respond within 24 hours.
Here are some of our top ASKs in the EmpowHER community this week.
1. How can I be intimate without risking the chance of being pregnant?
A: You need to make sure you are emotionally ready for sex. Do not be sexually active if you are paranoid about pregnancy. You need to educated and mature enough to know all about sex and the importance of birth control firsts - otherwise you'll be miserable all the time.
2. What kind of prenatal vitamin should I be taking?
A: A healthy diet is the best way to get all the vitamins and nutrients you need. But, if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, taking a daily prenatal vitamin will ensure good health for you and your baby. Some research suggests that prenatal vitamins decrease the risk of having a baby who is small for his or her gestational age.
3. Can I go swimming with a UTI?
A: Where you swim matters. The chlorine and chemicals used to treat a pool might cause irritation and make urination more painful. Any swimming water that you encounter, in a pool, at a beach or lake, does not enter your urinary tract.
4. What are some home remedies to unclog my ears?
A: There are many home remedies that people use - they are listed throughout our very busy thread on this topic (suggestions are not just from clogged ears from nose-blowing) that you can peruse here: http://www.empowher.com/community/ask/how-do-you-quickly-clear-clogged-ear-too-much-nose-blowing
