Dr. Dahiya explains how long it takes to undergo bariatric surgery and the type of specialist that would perform this procedure.
Dr. Dahiya:
The primary procedure being hour and a half, average. The other one would probably add about an hour to it. So it makes the average two and a half hours. Because somebody has been there, you’ve got to figure out what was done and what then from there you need to do. Look for a bariatric surgeon who has been doing first of all, laparoscopic.
I think, you know, that’s pretty much the standard these days, but still there are enough open people who do that. I think either you want to do somebody who has done lots of laparoscopic procedures, has a good experience in laparoscopy, community also knows them pretty much. You sort of got to do your little bit looking up.
