ask: Do you get a pain in your finger from typing on your keyboard?

I guess I must press particularly hard on my keyboard with my index finger, or it's the most used digit; but, it has been painful for a couple of days. Notably, I cut my nails short a couple of days ago. So, I suspect there's some connection, at least to some degree.

Not knowing what this could be, I did a search online and found RSI - Repetitive Stress Syndrome. It's a bit like carpal tunnel syndrome, whereby non-ergonomic repetitive use causes the injury.

But, the pain in my finger is primarily in the tip. Numbness radiates across the top of my hand from my fingertip. I'm concerned that my non-ergonomic keyboard at work is causing this problem; and I'm also concerned that I may be setting myself up for long term nerve damage.

Has anyone experienced this? If so, what was the treatment to help heal your finger? Did you have to go to a neurologist, or was your GP able to deal with this?

I actually experienced something like this about five years ago and coi

ncidentally have fingernails that I just can't keep long. For me, the pain in my right finger went away on its own, but you may want to get this checked out. I have read that therapy can actually go a long way toward fixing RSI and a massage may actually help with the numbness.

I used to get thumb, wrist, and finger pain while typing extensively. I visited a physician and she corrected my typing form. As far as my fingers go, the flat aluminum apple keyboard feels the best for me. I know people who *cannot* type without split keyboards.

Make sure you're typing properly, and invest in your own keyboard if necessary. It turned my computer experience around compltely.
