Dr. Dao explains his family's Chinese Medicine background.
I came from a generation, I am basically the 38th generation of practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine in my family, at least my father tells me that, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be able to be in this field.
Since I was a young boy, I was trained in different areas, and I still remember at about 4 or 5 o’clock in the morning, my father would wake us up and we would have to boogie down to the park and with our sleepy eyes, we had to wake up our body and do some Tai Chi and do some Qigong exercises, walk around the park and do different meditation techniques that he would teach us, and actually would hold a class. So he sometimes would also have senior students that would help us and teach us as well.
So it was a very wonderful experience, and that’s how I really got started and that in role of understanding Dao’s healing and traditional Chinese medicine, and later on I helped my father in the herb room, putting the herbs together and see how herbs are put together for different kind of condition in different patients, and that was tremendous amount of experience understanding about herbs.
And as I go forward, I continued to learn about acupuncture and went to college and also I went to China and did my internship and residency in different hospitals and learn a lot about the workings of not just traditional Chinese medicine but as well as integrating Western medicine in a clinic as well as the hospitals.
