Dr. Kogan:

There are several favorites I have for high cholesterol treatment with supplements. The first one is omega-3 fatty acids, and this is the one that most of our female patients are familiar with because the media has been so full of omega-3 fatty acids lately.

Omega fatty acids are the healing component of the fish oil, and my personal favorite for a therapeutic dose for people with high cholesterol is 1000 milligrams (mg) of EPA/DHA. This will provide a very nice and soothing LDL decrease without affecting the triglycerides, which are the non-cholesterol fats.

The second supplement that we use here at Longevity Institute at Doctors at Trump Place is guggul. Guggul lipid is a derivative of an Ayurvedic tree called Commiphora mukul is the tongue-twisting name of the tree. Guggul is a very, very tested by time, popular element of most comprehensive cholesterol-lowering formulas. We usually use guggul lipid to be taken as a vegetarian capsule, one to two capsules twice a day with meals.
