Dr. Harner:
If you look at the knee in a simplified way, it actually consists of three joints. There is an inside joint we call medial, there’s an outside part called lateral, and that’s the main weight-bearing joint where the tibia and the femur meet. Then there is the bone in the front called the patella, and that joint is called the patellofemoral joint.
