Annette, who continues to battle ovarian cancer, shares the breast cancer treatments she underwent.

Annette:

Well, my breast cancer experience was very interesting. First of all, it was caught early because I had a mammogram, which is why we do them. I was a grade 2; I was able to have a lumpectomy versus the mastectomy. Although I was not opposed to it, but these days we really do try to preserve the breast tissue, and because of the location of the tumor and the size of it, I was able to have internal radiation with a treatment that’s called brachytherapy.

So a device is inserted into the breast and for a week, high-dose radiation is applied twice a day, and then you're done. So the good part about that is that the diagnosis, the surgery, and the radiation treatment were essentially over in a couple of months.
