Annette:

Cancer has given me the ability to understand the real priorities in life. I never imagined that I would have to do all of the things that I have done to go through the experiences, back-to-back surgeries, multiple treatments, dealing with the indignity of, having people poke you, prod you, anywhere, anytime. All of the things that we think about in our civilized society as being very personal and private, I’ve learned to let go of.

And I also found that telling my story and helping other women was more important than my own ego. I wanted women to know that it is natural to be afraid, to be angry, bitter, but that those things are not useful. I think that cancer has also taught me that every single minute of our life is a precious gift.
