When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, my first thought was, "Let’s get rid of the breasts." I’ve got another, more serious cancer that is very difficult to control, and I did not want to be burdened with having a second cancer or breast cancer to deal with. So, I was of a mind to just get rid of the breast and eliminate that problem so I could focus on the other.

But I was assured by doctor after doctor that the survival rate with my particular cancer, where it was, the kind it is, that my chances of survival were exactly the same and it was unnecessary to lose the breast.
