Quite possible it's Sciatica. I have had the same pain too, ever since I delivered my second child, tho having children isn't a requirement for the condition. The pain can shoot down from your back, your hip, or straight into your leg. I was so bad at one point that I would colapse in the middle of a parking lot or walking along in a store. Sitting didn't help either. There isn't a lot you can do about it, if thats the case. Pain meds, like anti-inflamatory's NSAIDS( Advil) and warm compress will help ease the pain as well. Goodluck.

My leg gives out a little when I walk in the upper right thigh and I did it on the first day of dance tryouts . Do you think I could still go to the rest of the tryouts without making it worse?

Hi i know this reply is a bit late after your posts, but i have important info, if it is a weakness from an injury like my problem there is only one thing to do and that is strengthening the muscles. I was recommended yoga and now if i do yoga regularly the pain goes away, if i dont do yoga for around ten days my right leg starts to weaken from the top of the thigh, i will go to stand up and i have to stay still for a moment and carefully place my foot on the floor and wait before moving otherwise i have a sharp weird pain where the muscle meets the hip. I was diagnosed with a nudged hip bone and the muscles surrounding it have been stretched and damaged, but i will never know for sure without an xray. Since doing Yoga i do not care really as every time i do it i can feel the strength and stability returning to my leg! I swear by it.
I do hot yoga, but any yoga is good as long as its powerful - eg power flow, barkham method. Its the warrior and chair poses that do the best strengthening so you can even do it at home and youtube a class on the computer!

Oh I have this too,

Pain in the crease at top of my left leg. Right in the hip joint. LEg gives way and I cant put it to the floor or put pressure on it for the pain. Cant straighten it either. Like other posters have limped around and "managed"
Dr says muscle problems. Take brufen and that was it. I had to live with it!

I have the problem. Sharp pain in and around iside of thigh area. My leg however gives out every step, I have been using a cane. This is the first time this particular thing has happened. I have lower back problems as well because of a short leg due to injury, which has lead to severe sciatica for some years now. I had orthotics made with a lift in the left leg which has greatly reduced bouts of sciatica. I am wondwering if this is all related somehow.

I'm having the same problem and I would like to know what to do about it. At times I can't walk. I have sharp pains in the upper left thigh between the inner thigh and front thigh, very high, possible groin. When I am sitting, it hurts to lift my leg up using my thigh muscles. These sharp pains come and go. I can be walking fine and then my leg gives out because of the sharp pain. It seems like it is worse when I have been sleeping or sitting and then get up and try to walk. Could this be caused by a back being not aligned properly. I have lower back problems (degenerative disc disease) and I have heel spurs. Could they all be related?

Hi my name is marie and I am the one that first posted the problem with what I think is a groin strain, I was interested when I read your comment as I too have lower back problems but didnt relate this to the problem with the pain in my groin. I slipped a disc about 15 years ago which I now have to be careful with, I only have to sneeze and it can put my back out or turn a little funny and it twinges. I too cant lift my leg up using my thigh muscle without pain when this problem starts, infact all of my symptoms are the same as yours. If you do get a diagnosis I would be really interested to know what it is and how to combat it as I would really like to start jogging again but find I cant while I have this problem.

I just wondered if you're ever able to diagnose the pain in your inside hip? I am suffering from the exact same thing. the pain comes and goes when I'm walking. it is only on the right side and I really have to limp when it is hurting. Occasionally my way will give out on me because the pain is so bad. just wondered if you figured out how to help it? thanks!

you should have the damaged disc removed. I had the operation 8 years ago after coping with the pain for 10 years. Finally my leg lost its use and the operation became an emergency. Don't take that risk.

I have been absolutely fine since the operation and 2 months of recovery. I can excercise and have no pain.

It was so worth it
